We are pleased to inform you that in connection with the release of their new album Ontborg will re-release their debut album on CD&Digital 2022 via Black Lion Records.

Ontborg was founded from the ashes of the band Voices Of Decay by three former members to take a new direction with Scandinavian Death Metal. The band remembered their own metallic roots to create their own sound and indulged their blazing fondness for bands like Dismember and Benediction.

With their debut album, Ontborg want to pay tribute to their favorite Scandinavian death metal groups of the 90s, but with their own, very melodic interpretation. Inspired by a wide mixture of bands, ranging from the pure death metal sound of Dismember to the atmospheric black metal sound of Necrophobic, ”Within The Depths Of Oblivion” carries on the essence of the old days. Both friends of old school death and fans of more modern melodic death will get their fix.
The lyrical concept, which is obscure and deals with supernatural, dark themes, rounds off the overall impression and makes "Within The Depths Of Oblivion" a 100% intense death metal album.

This is the very pinnacle of the band's work. The amount of great songs is staggering. They don't experiment excessively, but what they do sticks forcefully in my mind. I can't single out a single best song, cause there's too much of them - The Cavernous Deep, Nonextence, Grit, Among Ashes and Monoliths and even Black waters have all set places in several of my playlists. This album hit me off guard, and it hit strong. One of the best in 2021 steeplejack
